HIKES: Los Leones in Pacific Palisades

One of the best parts of living in Los Angeles is the amount of gorgeous hikes we have! Many of the hikes give you incredible views of the glamorous city. There is also something charming about experiencing nature in such a busy city. It’s a reminder of how calming and peaceful life can and should be. This past weekend I headed to the Los Leones hike in the Pacific Palisades. If you are unfamiliar with the area, the Pacific Palisades is located just southeast of Malibu. We started at the Los Leones Canyon entrance off of: 566 Los Liones Drive, the main entrance to the canyon and hike. The hike was close to 4 miles roundtrip and about 1 hour and 20 minutes long. Once we got to the top, we spent about 20 minutes taking in the incredible views of the coast. This is one of my favorite hikes in LA because it feels like a real hike; covered in shrubbery along an embankment with views of the ocean early on. I definitely suggest going …

RECIPE: Pesto Spaghetti Squash with Chicken (GUEST BLOGGER)

Hey everyone! My name is Ashleigh, visiting from Team Never Going Back and I am just thrilled to be posting on Stay Classy Ana — we met in high school and now both have new, growing blogs. I am a huge fan of her blog, so I jumped at the opportunity to be a part of it. Just a little bit about myself and my cooking style: My goal is to create the healthiest, most flavorful dish by using minimal ingredients, simple methods, and avoiding anything too “off the wall.”   Let’s just say I like things easy!  Thank you very much for tuning in, please feel free to leave comments! Pesto Spaghetti Squash with Chicken: Spaghetti Squash, about 3 lbs 3 oz fresh basil, about 2 cups 2 tsp chopped garlic 1 tsp lemon juice 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese 18 oz chicken breast tenderloin, thawed 1 tbsp AND 1 tsp extra virgin olive oil 1 large zucchini 2 medium Roma tomatoes Alright guys, for this pesto “pasta“, I went all out and not only made my own noodles, but my …

Hand Rolls at KazuNori | The Original Hand Roll Bar

To all of my loyal Sugar Fish fans, you must try their new hand roll bar in downtown LA. It’s called  KazuNori | The Original Hand Roll Bar. This hot spot is a hand roll lover’s dream and is served authentic Japanese style. The small countertop restaurant seats around 20 people. We went late on a Tuesday night (around 10pm) and had no problem finding a seat. You’re given an order form and small pencil to choose from the pre-made hand roll menu which comes in options of 3-5 or you can order à la carte. Each option comes with their daily special and two other specialty rolls (i.e. scallop, yellowtail, tuna, lobster etc.) The preset combination is a bit cheaper than ordering à la carte and is similar to the style of the Sugar Fish menu. KazuNori serves it exactly the same too! You can see the chef preparing your hand rolls fresh in front of you and  they serve them one at a time. The best part, the taste…cold fresh fish on warm …

Paris Travel Guide

I am so excited to write this post and couldn’t think of a more perfect time of the year to share with you all the most romantic trip I’ve ever taken. Paris is everything you imagine it to be and so much more. It is a city rich with art, culture and history. I had the opportunity to visit this charming city in the month of October. The weather was crisp, warm enough during the day for pants and a light sweater and cool at night for a fancy long coat. My fiancé and I stayed in Paris a total of 4 nights and our goal was to see as much as we possibly could. We took a cab from Charles de Gaulle airport to our hotel. *WARNING* There are Parisians at the airport who try to scam you into taking one of their cars. They will tell you if you don’t have a reservation through your hotel, you cannot take a normal taxi. Do not listen, follow the ‘TAXI’ sign. We almost bought into this, …

Seductive Eyes with B.T.S. Mascara

One of my favorite beauty products is of course…mascara! Who doesn’t love a mascara that adds length and volume to your natural lashes. I’ve been one to constantly try different mascaras and have a few favorites on the market. But nothing I’ve tried compares to Too Faced ‘Better Than Sex Mascara.’ I’ve tried everything from Dior, Bare Minerals, Benefit, YSL and drugstore brands. This product beats them all. This product is for those who want or like the look of dramatic, long full lashes. If you’re a lady who likes to normally wear “fake eyelashes” when you go out, I highly recommend giving B.T.S. mascara a try. The texture is very smooth and transfers easily from the brush to the lash. It can get a little bit clunky so you’ll want to have a brush to comb it out once you’re done applying. However 2-3 strokes should be enough to get the volume you want. Once it dries, it’s smudge-proof and lasts all day long. Too Faced cosmetics is a vegan friendly brand.

Healthy Vision, Skin, Hair and Nails Juice Recipe

The best way to consume vitamins is naturally! Carrots is and has always been one of my favorite vegetables to juice because of the amount of liquid it produces. Also you can buy carrots in bulk at a good price. Carrots are high in Vitamin A which is essential for healthy vision and our immune system. Carrot juice also increases hair and nail growth, fights aging, prevents acne and helps to control sun damage. Here is the recipe for my Vitamin A in a cup. Healthy Vision, Skin, Hair and Nails Juice Recipe 8 Carrots 1 bundle of Celery 1/2 Cucumber 1 tbsp Ginger 4 Clementines 1/2 Lemon Here are some fun Pinterest charts that show the health benefits of each of these ingredients. Whoa, so much goodness in one glass. Drink up!

Honey Sriracha Fried Chicken Biscuit at FreeRange LA

One of the best parts of living in LA is the extensive amount of gourmet food trucks! I remember just before moving here (3 years ago) of reading about all the delicious street food. Not too long ago, food trucks were simply known as “roach coaches” and you didn’t really go there unless you were partying the night before and couldn’t remember your bad choices the following morning. Now, food trucks have replaced having to sit in a drive-thru line for mediocre fast food. It is the new gourmet fast food. Food trucks are also a fun interactive experience, almost like a treasure hunt. This weekend after following @FreeRangeLA on Instagram for some time, I finally couldn’t take looking at another delicious breakfast sandwich without going to try it! Every day, they list their location on their social media pages and website and the times they will be serving food. The pictures were so enticing that I sat through 30 minutes of traffic in downtown LA to get it! The results were well worth it. We …

If you’re looking for a delicious Sunday recipe, try these baked chicken tacos. They’re the perfect dish to serve and make for a party. They are tastier than buying a crunchy taco shell and healthier than frying a taco in grease. Ingredients: 3-4 boneless chicken breasts 1 jar of your favorite salsa soft corn tortillas olive oil spray cheddar cheese tomatoes cilantro Greek yogurt (as a sour cream substitute) Avocado Directions: Chicken Place boneless chicken breasts in a crockpot and cover with your favorite salsa. Turn crockpot on high for 4 hours or low for 6. The chicken is done when it shreds easily.
