Healthy Vision, Skin, Hair and Nails Juice Recipe

The best way to consume vitamins is naturally! Carrots is and has always been one of my favorite vegetables to juice because of the amount of liquid it produces. Also you can buy carrots in bulk at a good price. Carrots are high in Vitamin A which is essential for healthy vision and our immune system. Carrot juice also increases hair and nail growth, fights aging, prevents acne and helps to control sun damage. Here is the recipe for my Vitamin A in a cup. Healthy Vision, Skin, Hair and Nails Juice Recipe 8 Carrots 1 bundle of Celery 1/2 Cucumber 1 tbsp Ginger 4 Clementines 1/2 Lemon Here are some fun Pinterest charts that show the health benefits of each of these ingredients. Whoa, so much goodness in one glass. Drink up!

Stay Clean and Think Dirty

One of my goals in the new year is to make healthier choices beyond my normal diet and exercise routine. As I’ve grown older and become more health-conscious, it’s forced me to reflect on how important the daily choices we make can affect our long-term health. I’ve been trying to make healthier choices in my beauty routine slowly ever since the negative effects of some of my favorite makeup brands were brought to my attention from my fellow beauty/health/fashion blogger friend Hello Amanda. She started an amazing Instagram called @OrganicBunny which features beauty and skincare products the are certified organic and overall healthier for your skin. She also introduced me to the Think Dirty App, which is a phone application that educates consumers on potential toxic ingredients in beauty products.  The application allows you to scan products and get an overall rating based off of a 1-10 scale (with 10 being the worst). The app is great because it’s backed by scientific research and provides references from its studies on how the evidence is determined …

Stay Skinny Detox Water Recipe

*Photo courtesy of Healthy Holistic Living I love water and try my best to drink as much of it as I can throughout the day. I truly believe that H2O is one of the best beauty remedies! Hydrated skin is healthy skin. Also, I’ve often heard that oily skin can sometimes be due to dehydration because your body is trying to compensate for not having enough moisture. One of the best ways to not get bored with your water is to infuse it! This past weekend, I headed to my local farmers market to invest in a mint plant. A $4 investment to make infinite infused amounts of water (or as long as I can keep the plant alive). Here are the simple ingredients for refreshing skinny detox water. Ingredients (for 16 oz): 1/2 lemon sliced (Meyer lemons are my favorite to use) 1/2 cucumber sliced 1/4 cup mint leaves 16 oz filtered water 1 tbsp grated ginger (optional) *Try and use organic produce if you can! Directions: Slice vegetables and grate ginger. Place in a …

Highlighting with LORAC TANtalizer Baked Bronzer

Staying classy is about being effortless…which is why I love Lorac’s baked bronzer. I have been using this product since college and the reason I bought it in the first place was simply because I thought it looked pretty (confessions of a shallow make-up consumer)! I had no idea how to use a highlighter and never thought I needed a bronzer. The Tantalizer is now a staple in my make-up kit and routine. If you’re familiar with the contour craze, you know that contouring creates certain  angles of the face. It looks great on camera, but can sometimes look over done in person. That is why I prefer this quick and simple alternative. Aside from that, it takes a lot of work and make up knowledge to contour. Time we don’t always have in our “on-the-go” lifestyle. I make a serious effort to be able to get ready in 30 mins day or night. Here’s how easy highlighting is using the LORAC TANtalizer Baked Bronzer. Watch my steps in selfies. Highlight in these 3 spots for a …

Clean Skin at Skin Laundry

The newest addition to my beauty routine, Skin Laundry! It is a new laser and light treatment that vaporizes the impurities and dirt from your skin and gives deep cleaning to your pores. The treatment is 10 minutes long. You can book an appointment easily online through their website. You should not plan to wear make up after the treatment for the rest of the day or at least a few hours to let your skin breathe. If it’s your first time, the treatment specialist will give you a consultation to explain the process step by step. It is recommended that you do treatments close together to see the best results. The treatments help with acne, acne scars, skin pigmentation and overall radiance. They’ve also started doing teeth whitening in the Santa Monica location and soon all over. There are several locations throughout the Los Angeles area and one in Arizona which can be found here.

Clear Skin using Acure Organics

I am always on the hunt for effective and affordable skin care. I’ve tried everything from drug store brands like Neutrogena, Clean and Clear to higher end skin care lines like Boscia at Sephora (one of my favorites) and even ProActiv. Currently I am using Acure, a family owned and operated company that is also vegan, organic, paraben-free, cruelty-free and fair trade. So basically, you can feel really good about this purchase in addition to the amazing things it will do for maintenance of your skin. I made my own “set” and am currently using the Facial Scrub, Cleansing Gel, Toner and Night Cream. STEP 1: The “Argan Stem Cell + Chlorella Growth Factor Brightening Facial Scrub”  is made with organic sea kelp. The scrub has a pretty gritty texture, but is helpful in removing the impurities from the skin and unclogging pores. With any scrub I use, I am always very gentle with my skin. No matter the skin type I always believe in being good to your skin and not aggressively over exfoliating …
