Almond Milk Latte at Stumptown Coffee Roasters (Downtown LA)

Even though I have my own coffee maker at home, I always love trying new coffee shops around the city. Coffee shops tend to have their own uniqueness and character. I discovered Stumptown Coffee Roasters while visiting the FreeRange LA food truck. The brand, which is based out of Portland, Oregon focuses on delivering quality coffee through it’s delicate roasting technique which is displayed in the coffee shop for customers to see. *Photo via LA Weekly I ordered a plain latte with almond milk and it was delicious! Since there was no flavoring, you could really taste the strong coffee flavor and when mixed in with almond milk, it was just like dessert, a mild sweet nutty taste. Also, the coffee shop has several unique pastries. If you’ve ever been to Hawaii, are Hawaiian or are familiar with the Hawaiian culture, you will appreciate the Spam Musibi Croissant. Even after ordering from the food truck, my Hawaiian heritage would not allow me to pass it up!

Stay Awake and Glowing with My Morning Routine

I’ve been wanting to share this routine for awhile. I know mornings can sometimes feel rushed or groggy after a late night. I’ve been on this routine for the last few months and really feel that it helps me start my day and my digestive system on the right foot, no matter what happened or what I ate the night before… Routine: 1 full glass of water as soon as I wake up. I always fall asleep with a water bottle next to my bed in case I get thirsty in the middle of the night. Whatever I haven’t finished, I finish immediately in the morning when I wake up. 1 cup of black coffee while I get ready. I genuinely enjoy a hot cup of coffee in the morning. There’s something about the smell, taste and oh yea the caffeine that really helps wake me up and focus me. I’m not addicted and typically only drink one cup per day, but I do love to drink coffee! I used to add sugars and creamers, …

But First Coffee…at Alfred Coffee and Kitchen Melrose Place

I finally got to see and sip the hype of Alfred Coffee & Kitchen on Melrose Place. This trendy LA coffee shop slowly began to coat my Instagram feed from bloggers, friends and co-workers. I have a Nespresso machine at home which I love, but my curiosity couldn’t help but wonder why is this place so good (other than the cute, “But First, Coffee” cups of course…)?! Well first things first, it’s in a great location. Somewhat off the beaten path on a street that’s safe to walk across in LA. I didn’t have much trouble finding parking on the street at 11am on a Saturday. The coffee shop, in between two cute boutiques, is two stories high. The bottom floor is where you place your order for coffee, pastries, sandwiches and salads. There is seating below, but it gets pretty crowded due to the ordering line. The line moves quickly and while you wait, you can shop through the truffle chocolate shop inside, Compartès. Since  it was a warm day, I decided to go with …
