The best part about living in Northern California is ALL of the beautiful natural landscapes. I always tend to brag about how much I love and miss living in SoCal, but the truth is I continually become more and more impressed as I continue to discover new places. This weekend we went exploring with our favorite adventure couple to Tomales Bay. It’s a place I’ve always heard of, but never pulled the trigger on going because it’s a bit far from the city. There are many things to see and do on this trip (which I will write about in a later post), but for now, I want to highlight: Hog Island Oyster Co. If you’re a seafood lover, foodie or you just enjoy “local experiences”, you must visit this place to try some of the freshest oysters you’ve ever tasted!
Even on a foggy day, it can be pretty busy so it’s best to plan ahead and make a reservation. If you don’t make a reservation, they’ll still be able to accommodate you at a standing bar table but you may just have to wait a bit.
The menu is pretty simple: fresh oysters, Bourbon BBQ oysters, salads, bread, charcuterie and drinks. For a small fee, you can reserve a picnic table and shuck your own oysters. We saw a few larger parties do this and it looked really fun!
